Curriculum Overview

‘We inspire in our children a joy of learning and instil the courage to succeed as successful global citizens’

We understand young minds develop and learn at different rates, and thorough planning, teaching and assessment ensure our staff know each and every child and individual learning needs are met.

Our early years programs are highly regarded and renowned for their explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy and draw from children’s interests and lives. Children actively investigate a range of skills and experiences for life either through planned play or projects. These programs are recognised as innovative and reflect current best practice in early childhood education.

The middle and upper school programs develop skills for life-long learning. Project-based programs enhance creative and critical thinking, problem solving and develop self-concept and intrinsic motivation.

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and programs which encourage and develop personal growth, leadership skills, resilience and intellect.

Our specialist subject areas include: Sport, Music, Japanese, Art and STEM/ICT. There are also a plethora of excursions, camps, and special theme days and school community occasion.

The Instrumental Music School Services provides music tuition to selected Year 5 and 6 students in guitar, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. Student studying through the IMMS program may join the Mount Hawthorn Area Band along with student receiving private musical tuition.

We know that all of our students have a special talent that needs to be nurtured and developed to ensure they pursue and achieve their best.
